7/15/06: Wedding Invitation

The latest featured design is of my own wedding invitation. My challenge was to come up with a concept that would not only be memorable, but would also convey all the information needed for a proper invitation.

In keeping with our "Old Virginia" theme, I came up with the idea of using the photographic technique of stereographs. Stereographs have been used since the birth of photography and became immensely popular in the late 1800s. Two photographs taken three inches apart are viewed through a stereograph viewer, which causes them to merge together into a three-dimensional image. The overall design for this gatefold card was accomplished with the use of weathered stock imagery, a professional handwritten font and wax seal.
